I found a couple of really cute sterling silver diabetic charms and paired them with a stainless steel ball chain and also a leather cord. They are quite attractive and very reasonably priced at only $18.95! I noticed that alot of people on had "diabetes" or "diabetic" engraved on their medical plates and charms so when I came across these, I thought they were nice!

New crystal diabetes necklace

I'm really excited about several of the new items I've found for the website. I came across this beautiful crystal medical pendant with "diabetes" etched into it. The pendant is 1.25" high by .75" wide and the stainless steel bale has a Swarovski crystal embedded. It's very unique and stylish. I strung it onto a leather cord and then onto a sterling silver snake chain and it has two very different looks. Let me know what you think!

I just added a new medical necklace to our collection. I really love this heart shaped medical plate. It reminds me of the necklace at Tiffany's, although that one has a sterling chain. I think it's quite unique and trendy for a medical necklace, huh? I'm also added a crystal diabetes necklace too, so stay tuned!

Wow! It's been forever since I posted. So much has happened since the last time I blogged (11/17/08). On 11/19, my father was hospitalized with pneumonia and blood clots in his legs. Just a mere 7 days later, he was gone. I knew my father wasn't in the best of health but I never expected things to progress quite so quickly. He spent his last 2 days at the Treasure Coast Hospice. I can only say that those people are truly angels on earth. I have never met such loving and compassionate people in my life. My mother and I will never forget any of them. Having a 3 1/2 year old, my husband and I felt that we should continue with our holidays plans that conisited of hosting his family for Christmas. The children really made the holidays a blelssing for us. My mother had flown to Tennessee 2 days after my father's memorial to be with her baby sister who was suffering with Acute Leukemia. They had called in Hospice for home care and my mom spent the next 4 weeks caring for her until she passed away on New Years Day. To say the least, the past 5 weeks have been challenging.

BUT.....I must keep a positive attitude and believe that 2009 will be a better year!

I have some awesome new designs on the way and will post them as soon as I have them completed. The article in Diabetic Living that featured my medical jewelry really got my creative juices flowing! I can't wait to share all the new goodies!

Wow! I haven't had time to blog lately and that is a good thing, right? Diabetic Living's Winter 2008 issue hit the stands just two weeks ago and I have already seen an increse in website visits, orders and brochure requests. Election 2008

Well....I did it! I went to early vote! I found a library that only had a 30 minute wait time so I was in and out in 59 minutes! I really feel that this is a monumental election and I was worried that either my husband, daughter or myself would get sick and I wouldn't make it to the polls. So I took advantage of early voting!

One word....CHAOS! My husband and I were thrilled that we live accross the street from one of the early voting locations in Palm Beach County. We figured we would just run accross the street, vote and be done with it! This is so not the case. Since the polls opened last Monday, there has been a constant line with no reprieve. The Governor just extended the hours to 7am - 7pm hoping to help with wait times. I finally checked our local paper, The Palm Beach Post, and was not suprised to find our location has THE longest wait time in Palm Beach County.....2 1/4 hours! After reading that, I understand the chaos over there. Not to mention, as I'm pulling into the neighborhood there is our first "early voting traffic accident". I'm actually suprised it took 9 days for one to happen!

I'm just so darned excited!

Despite the terrible economy, I am feeling very blessed today for several reasons!

1. It's beautiful outside! South Florida is having a cold snap and the high for today is 72 and there's not a cloud in the sky! It may be a good day to go stand in line for early voting....beats the heck out of standing in the heat!

2. I have been anxiously awaiting for Diabetic Living to publish their Winter 2008 issue becuase it features 2 of my medical bracelets, the medical cell phone charm and the medical medallion necklace! I didn't think it was coming out until next week!

3. A lovely lady named Jo-Lynne ( Musings of a Housewife ) is featuring one of my new gemstone bracelets on her blog today for a giveaway. Besides hopefully sending people to my site, she asks that they leave a comment in order to be entered into the drawing. I went to her blog this morning to find 31 comments. The comments were so wonderful I felt like crying!

First chilly day in South Florida!

Soooo, we are a bit spoiled here in South Florida! Saturday we were sweating at almost 90 degrees and today I am scrambling to get my 3 year old daughter dressed because it's 57 degrees outside! Being the princess she is...she "insisted" on wearing a skirt, not pants. Thankfully I found a pair of tights and she was off an running! It's supposed to get up to 72 today so I hope she stays warm!

So, I was playing with some cool india glass beads today and came up with a funky new medical accessory to add to out growing selection. I added it to the Beadin' Beagle website a few minutes ago. The first official boo-boo!

Well....it happened Friday night....at 3 years and 2 months, our daughter took her first major tumble. Yes, I was a mess. We were out on a walk and she was running to catch up with daddy when she tripped. She attempted to put her hands out BUT she was walking the dog and Jackie kept going. Therefore she landed smack on her face and bit her lip. She has quite a bit of road-rash but she is enjoying all the sympathy from mommy & daddy, Nana & Grandpa and especially her daycare teacher this morning! She got a cool fairy costume Saturday so that made her feel better too! Thank heavens for Neosporin and Mederma.

I can't believe it's already nearing the end of September! Breast Cancer Awareness month is upon us once again. We recently added a couple new breast cancer bracelets to The Beadin' Beagle. I made a bottle cap bracelet that I'm going to call "Old School"! It has the bottle caps from Coca-Classic (the 10 oz size), Mountain Dew, Tab & Grape Crush. It's very retro & funky! I had to laugh out loud when I read the Tab bottle cap. It says "Use of this product may be hazardous to your health. This product contains saccharin which has been determined to cause cancer in laboratory animals". OK....that's scary! My mom used to drink this stuff like water when I was a kid! The Grape Crush top simply states "Imitation Grape Soda". hmmmmm.......no wonder I drink water and avoid sodas!

Fun & Free in South Florida

Since everyone is watching their pennies, entertaining an active 3 year old can be a challenge. Fortunately, our daughter LOVES anything related to animals. Saturday morning we headed up to Jupiter to the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary. Admission is free but donations boxes are placed throughout the sanctuary. Also, all purchases made in the gift shop are donated to the animal care. They had tons of cool animals! Then we headed to the beach for a bite and then stopped at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach. This has been one of Sera's favorite places for a while now. She adores turtles and this time they even had new baby turtles! This facility is great for kids....and they only ask for a $5 donation. Soooo.....we enjoyed a beautiful Saturday for just a little money!

While on the subject of free, if you're in Boynton Beach you should visit Green Cay Wetlands. They have a great wetlands boardwalk. Green Cay emulates the Everglades ecosystem with a wide expanse of marsh habitat and intermittent tree islands and cypress hammocks. They also have a nature center. Exhibits include a turtle pond, frog habitat, an alligator hole, a wetland diorama, and educational murals.

Recycled Bottle Cap Necklaces

I am soooo excited! I found these cool recycled bottle cap beads and I just love them. I ordered 3 to start with but since I got them yesterday, I ordered 5 more. New Breast Cancer Awareness Bracelet

Well, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is approaching (October) and I came across this gorgeous glass lampwork bead with a pink ribbon. I just fell in love with it! I just posted it on my site.

Of course, I have a soft spot for these beads as my dear Aunt Cheri founght this battle and is proud to be a survivor....in fact, she just became a grandma for the 4th time two weeks ago!

Driving in Boynton Beach

So here is something I found to be very humorous! You know how some people put a flower or a tennis ball on the end of their antennae so they can "find" their car in a parking lot? Well, I was driving down Boynton Beach Boulevard today when something caught my eye. It was a very unique twist on this concept. Evidently this person has had a bit of difficulty finding his car and decided to take it up a notch. He actually took a pool noodle and secured it with a tennis ball. I kid you not! Luckily I had my camera with me! Enjoy the giggle.

Pretty New Bracelet

Yes, I should probably be watching the Weather Channel to see if Tropical Storm Fay was headed our way but instead I decided to post a new bracelet. I added this to the site over the weekend and thought I would share. I made this one as a medical bracelet but I'm going to make it as a regular one as well since I think it's so lovely. I used Swarovski created pearls, light rose Swarovski crystals accented with floating sterling silver rings and a beautiful sterling bead that says "hope". The crystals can be any color depending on what type of cancer or illness is represented. I'm open to comments!

Lately I have had this obsession with turquoise and red as a color combination. I found a beautiful slab of Turquoise from one of my suppliers and mixed it with 10mm red Sponge Coral. I am posting a photo of the bracelet and would love comments. I think I may make a necklace like this as well. It would look beautiful with a crisp white summer blouse, huh?

We survived the birthday party!

Well we survivived a house full of company and a big pool party. Unfortunately Sunday I woke up with a scratchy throat and stuffy and it has quickly progressed to a full blown cold. Maybe all the stress finally caught up with me! I'm hoping to get some new designs onto the website soon now that we have survived my 20th high school reunion, my husband's 25th reunion, a mini-vacation and a birthday party. I would love to hear comments on what color combinations are hot for the fall!

I think I justed added my 1st post....so I'm getting brave and will try a 2nd one! I figured I would try adding photos this time since our daughter turned THREE yesterday....my, how time flies! My parents came across a Disney Princess bike at a garage sale and I've had it in storage for over a year. I think they paid something crazy like $7 for it, my mom cleaned it up and voila! Actually the helmet cost more than the bike....LOL! So we surprised her after dinner last night and she LOVED it! She hasn't actually figured out the pedaling thing but I'm sure she will catch on soon enough.
